Index of Terms

Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP)

The AATIP was a secret US DoD program established to investigate reports of UFOs and UAP. The program ran from 2007 to 2012, with a focus on assessing potential threats to national security.

Advanced Aerospace Weapon Systems Applications Program (AAWSAP)

The AAWSAP was a secret US DoD program initiated in 2007 to study advanced aerospace technologies and UAP. The AAWSAP focused on assessing potential threats from emerging aerospace technologies and conducting research on unconventional aerospace advancements. It is considered a precursor to the AATIP.

Department of Defense (DoD)

Part of the executive branch of the US government, the DoD is responsible for overseeing all agencies and functions related to national security and the armed forces. Elizondo worked for the DoD, though he became very critical of the department as he learned more about UAP.

The Pentagon

The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States DoD. Located in Arlington, Virginia, it serves as the central hub for military planning, operations, and administration. The Pentagon is one of the largest office buildings in the world and symbolizes US military power and defense strategy. Elizondo worked in the Pentagon, as did many of the people who conspired against him to keep UAP research secret.

Remote Viewing

Remote viewing is the practice of attempting to gather information about a distant or unseen target using extrasensory perception or other psychic abilities. Often associated with paranormal research, remote viewing has been explored in military and intelligence programs to determine whether it could be used for reconnaissance or gathering intelligence without physical proximity to the target. Elizondo was part of the remote-viewing research conducted by the US government.

Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)

A SCIF is a secure, enclosed area used to handle, process, and discuss classified or sensitive information, particularly related to national security. SCIFs are designed to prevent unauthorized access, surveillance, or eavesdropping. Many of Elizondo’s most important conversations took place inside a SCIF.

Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP)

“UAP” is a term used to describe any airborne object or event that cannot be immediately identified or explained. “UAP” is often used in place of “UFO” to broaden the scope beyond “flying objects” and include other unexplained aerial occurrences, a change that was recommended by the people featured in Imminent due to the negative stigma associated with the term “UFO.”

Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO)

The term “UFO” refers to any aerial phenomenon that cannot be immediately identified or explained. In Imminent, Elizondo alleges that the United States government has covered up the existence of UFOs since the 1940s.
